Location

With an area of 500,000 hectares, Riesco Island is the fourth largest island in the country and is located in the municipality of Rio Verde, located in the Magallanes and Chilean Antarctic Region. This island is surrounded on the north by the Seno Otway and south by the Seno Skyring, separated from the mainland by the Fitz-Roy channel.

The site Invierno is located at the Km. 40 of Route Y-560, which runs along the island through the Seno Otway sector. The coal project of Mina Invierno is specifically emplaced in the stay of the same name, occupying 1,509 hectares representing 0.3% of the total area of Riesco Island
